Laps of Light 2017

Conemaugh Township Memorial Stadium

The 10th Annual Laps of Light Benefit Walk will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at the Conemaugh Township Memorial Stadium.

Laps of Light is a fundraising walk for everyone - from serious runners to leisurely walkers, from lone rangers to family herds. It is a night to promote the inclusion of those with intellectual and development disabilities, and to raise money for Camp PARC and its programs.

This year Laps of Light is designed to bring out your inner cowpoke or cowgirl as we celebrate being...Forever Country. Forever Friends. New in 2017, Laps of Light will also host a 5K Country Fun Run in addition to the traditional laps. The Country Fun Run will begin and end at the track and will feature country and farm themed obstacles such as hay bales, tractor tires, and inflatable pigs.

The registration fee includes admission into Laps of Light and the Country Fair, participation in the Country Fun Run, and a fine and dandy Laps of Light t-shirt. Food, drinks, and some additional entertainment are available for purchase at the Country Fair.

Gates and registration open at 3:30pm on Sunday, October 8 at Conemaugh Township Memorial Stadium. Opening ceremonies will begin at 4:15pm, with the fun run starting as part of the first lap at approximately 4:30 pm. Closing and Award ceremonies will begin at 7:00 pm, with the final lap at 7:30 pm.

Participants are encouraged to wear over-the-top country attire and gallop, trot or do-si-do their way around the track. Strap on your walkin' (or runnin') boots and get ready for a rootin' tootin' good time at Laps of Light 2017!

Prior to the event, participants are encouraged to collect donations to support their participation in Laps of Light. Simply registering and showing up on Walk Day will raise awareness, but it’s the fundraising dollars that help us fund Camp PARC and its programs. Please note that contributions collected are a one-time donation based on participating in the walk, it is not based on number of laps or time walked. We will award the highest three individuals and teams who raise the most money.

The day of the event consists of participants walking laps on the track, while also enjoying food, entertainment and activities for all ages and abilities.

We are looking for individual walkers and teams. (Teams are comprised of 6 or more individual registered walkers.) Children, young adults and adults with mental disabilities, family members, friends, healthcare professionals, corporate teams and members of the community - All are welcome to participate! Laps of Light provides an uplifting and memorable experience for all participants and enriches the lives of all involved. Organize a team from your workplace, school, or community or simply participate with your family. Register at the links below.

We greatly appreciate your support and invite you to direct any questions to the Laps of Light Committee Co-Chairs: Chrissy Troxell, or 814-659-7471; Sarah Wallace, or 540-322-7865.

See ya'll there!
